Is your GivesDays platform easy to use?

We sure think it is! We built this platform from the ground up — specifically for Gives Days. We set out to make it as easy and intuitive to use as possible — yet packed with powerful features. Plus, we're committed to continually improving the ease of use and functionality based on feedback from our clients and their donors.

What is this going to cost?

Each Gives Day project is unique. And every community foundation we work with has slightly differing wants and needs. We meet with every client to determine your specific situation and project scope, and from there we provide a customized quote. That said, we also understand that community foundations have finite budgets and often bear the cost of their community's Gives Day in its entirety. That's why we try to make things as simple and cost-effective as possible. Also, Tungsten does not charge a per-transaction fee in addition to your credit card fees, like some other platforms do.

What kind of technical support do you offer?

We are with you through the entire process of building and executing your Gives Day website. Although we have a sophisticated online trouble ticketing system, we are also always just a phone call away.

Gives Day Technical Support
When your Gives Day comes, we offer on- and off-site technical support throughout the day. Our level of involvement really depends on your comfort level, and how much assistance you would like.

What is the likelihood that our website might crash on the day of giving?

Not very likely. In order to eliminate this risk, we rigorously stress test each website numerous times in preparation for your Gives Day. We calculate the expected number of Gives Day visitors with multiple scenarios and load times. Then on your actual day of giving, your site will be on a dedicated server that is scaled up to handle several times the number of expected visitors and transactions. Typically on a Gives Day, our servers are only using about 20% of their capability — and that is only during the time of heaviest volume.

Regardless of this fact — and as an additional precaution — we still recommend a redundant platform setup. In this scenario, multiple layers of both application and database servers are used to ensure performance and stability. Should a primary server fail, a backup server can easily be upgraded with little or no downtime during your Gives Day.

What are the features?

What are the transaction fees?

Generally, third-party transaction fees are between 3% and 4% of each total transaction. The transaction fees are dependent on the merchant account provider and payment gateway you elect to use. We can walk you through that selection process, help you weigh options, and recommend a trusted merchant account provider and payment gateway. It is important to note that Tungsten does not charge any additional transaction fees on top of what these third-party providers will charge.

Does Tungsten take a percentage of the donations?

No. One thing we decided early on was that we weren't interested in taking a percentage of the donations. So we do not charge any additional transaction fees on top of what the third-party merchant account provider and payment gateway will charge you. And you might be thinking they must be getting their cut from somewhere. We do good work and we appreciate being paid fairly for that work. But we're not interested in being overcompensated at the expense of the nonprofit community.

How do I set up payment processing?

Don't worry too much about this part. Although it is a critical step, we are well-versed in this arena and can help guide you through everything. First, we'll help you choose a merchant account provider and payment gateway. Then, you will need to fill out some forms. When all that is in place, we will take care of integrating everything into your Gives Day website.
